Gastroanthropologist

Gastroanthropology is written by Adrienne Andrews Mitchell.
In February 2008 my husband, Nate, and I left San Francisco to live abroad in Europe. I now split my time between London and the San Francisco Bay Area.

As a trained pastry chef I was immersed in the food and restaurant world. But my interest in food goes much further. In 2009 I completed my masters in food policy.

I now consult for restaurants and other food businesses in how to become more sustainable and eco-friendly. Please contact me via email if you have any questions.

This blog explores all aspects of food. From the plot of land a seed is planted in, to who planted it, to how far produce travels and why, to who gets to eat the produce, and to all the many different ways we are offered and choose to consume.

I am available for pastry menu consulting and design. Depending on your needs I will design recipes tailored to the style of your restaurant or event. I am also available for creating dessert bars and cakes for any event or wedding.

Nate and I explore someplace different almost every weekend. We always check out the local fare and I will share those experiences and pictures as well.
